From October through March, the Clivia, also known as wood lily or Saint Joseph plant, shines in Dynaplant’s assortment. This striking plant is often in bloom around Saint Joseph’s Day celebration on March 19 and is a real eye-catcher with its bright orange flowers and deep green leaves. In addition to its aesthetic value, the Clivia also offers air-purifying properties, making it a great choice for any interior.

The cultivation process of the Clivia at Dynaplant starts from seed and takes three years before the first flower buds are visible. Thanks to our advanced greenhouse conditions, we can offer the Clivia year-round, even during periods when it does not normally flower. Thus, we ensure continuous availability for the business market.

Origin and heritage of the Clivia

The Clivia has its origins in South Africa and is named after Lady Charlotte Florentina Clive, a Victorian-era duchess who brought this beautiful plant to England. Related to the Amaryllis, the Clivia has always remained a niche product, carefully cultivated for the specialty market. At Dynaplant we focus specifically on the miniata variety, and through our own breeding program we invest in genetic improvements every year. We are even working on developing a yellow Clivia variety to offer our customers even more choice.
